This project involved developing and designing a concept for an app that would help with any kind of health issue. After conducting research and reading studies on the matter, I chose to make my app about helping people reduce their risk of living a sedentary lifestyle. It would focus on office workers who are at risk of sitting for large portions of their life.

I had to create a fully clickable prototype for both mobile and desktop, as well as create a research document detailing my findings, and a client pitch document that I could show to hypothetical investors.

Research was crucial to developing this project. I began by looking into academic studies proving that the sedentary lifestyle was an issue that needed tackling. This was beneficial as it provided proof to my investors the app needed making, and certain studies outlined who was most at risk, which helped me develop accurate personas.

After this, I investigated competitors in a similar region and pulled together their strengths and weaknesses. I conducted two user interviews, which enabled me to have critical discussions regarding what the app needs to do to fulfil their goals. Following this, I generated a set of user personas and began to wireframe. As well as interviews, I conducted two user tests to get feedback on the app. This was extremely helpful as it allowed me to see what the weaknesses and unintended uses of my designs were and correct them.

The most interesting part of this process was conducting the interviews. I came with a set of questions to ask, but both interviews went beyond that, where I found myself having further discussions about the scope of the app. These talks allowed me to streamline existing functions and even get concepts for whole new ideas.

The final designs included:

Mobile app prototype: created in Figma, a version of the app designed for mobile use.

Desktop web-app prototype: created in Figma, a version of the web-app designed for desktop use.

Research document: A document outlining all research phases conducted in this project

Client pitch document: A document that converts the research phases into a client side presentation style document for investors.
